Sadler Romeo and Juliet Teapot | Vintage Sadler Tea Pot

A lovely Sadler teapot featuring the Verona balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet. The design evokes a sense of being at the famous Globe Theatre, with the theatrical curtains draped along the stage. The masks of Thalia and Melpomene, the ancient Greek muses of comedy and tragedy, encircle the scalloped rim of the tea pot. The Savoy shaped pot has gilding along the spout, handle, finial, and foot. Juliet's famous speech "O Romeo, Romeo!" has a truncated version printed on the underside of the teapot. The foot features "William Shakespeare 1564-1616". The teapot is in very good condition without chips, cracks, or stains. The interior is pristine, as if it has not been used. It stands 6.25" tall, 7.5" from spout to handle, and 3.75" width. Capacity is 500ml or 17.5oz. There is some very light crazing on the underside. The gild is fresh and intact.
