W.J. Hughes Cornflower Optic Faceted Goblets Wine Glasses Lot of four featuring a flared 12 panel optic blank and are wheel etched by hand with a 12 petal cornflower and a foliage spray of 11 leaves. Hughes line 196 - 196/1 Manufactured by W J "Jack" Hughes Cornflower Glass Co. of Canada in the 1950's, these two wine or water goblets feature the popular Cornflower as designed and cut by Jack in 1912! Originally made to dress Canadian tables at a modest price point for working class families, the Cornflower pattern was cut in five distinct steps using machines also designed by Jack Hughes. There have been imitators, but none so lovely as this, his most popular #196 optic cut. Excellent condition, no flaws such as chips or cracks.
