Sherman Sterling Silver Cufflinks Gold Plated "Senator" Vintage w/ Birks Box

Vintage Sherman sterling silver cufflinks. They are marked STERLING and also have the name Senator engraved on them. They are plated sterling, I assume gold plated but I don't know. The design is an interesting brutalist / post modern style. They are about 3/4" wide. Beautiful condition, like they've never been worn. They come in a Birks case. I do not know exactly when they were made but my guess is the 1960s.
