A stunning vintage gown handmade of pure ivory coloured silk by London-based Dutch designer Jan Vanvelden, a favourite of the late Princess Diana.
Pure silk and heavily embroidered outer shell with sleeves to elbow and flared bottom, open at back with three metal closures.
Pure silk lined inner slip with side zipper.
Colour: ivory.
Condition: very good, no loose beading, rips or stains bar one tiny stain near front (see photo). This might come out with careful spotting or professional dry cleaning (not attempted).
Too, there’s a 1/4” section of stitching slightly coming apart at one side on one shoulder (photo).
Measurements and size: about Canadian woman’s 8. Length from shoulder seam to bottom is 48”, length across one shoulder seam to the other is 15”.
Retailed for the equivalent of around CAD $4,000 in 1984. Worn twice and always stored in cloth gown bag.
Smoke- and pet-free home.
