This amazing vintage parka is from my grandma’s coat closet, so I’m guessing it was hers, from the late 1950’s or early 1960’s - it was in the closet every winter as far back as I can remember, which is pretty far 🦕. I rescued it when grams died (at 105!,) and it’s been wrapped and stored for years. 100% wool outer shell, fox fur trim (sorry!), 2-way zipper, BIG pockets. In VGUC & freshly dry cleaned (after first pics were taken 😁) Sizing: I wear a small or medium. The coat is a good length on me, sleeves a bit long, lots of room around the chest. The cut of the coat slopes at the shoulders, so keep that in mind: shoulders measure ~18”, but may not fit if you have broad straight shoulders. I researched comparable vintage coats for a fair price. Respectful offers welcome 🙏🏻🙂

staciesmith307 Hi Shauna Quick question about sizing. You have it listed as small/ medium but it looks like the tag says 16. I know there is a big difference with how they sized back then and now but that seems very big 🤣

shauna59 @staciesmith307 indeed it does say 16! I listed it as smaller because of the cut, especially the sloped shoulder seams. I think it would not be quite right for someone who wears large generally, although I could be wrong - it would depend on the breadth of the shoulders. Someone with straight broad shoulders might not find the coat very accommodating, but I will experiment with it tomorrow to see if I’m way off base on this. Thank you so much for asking! shauna59 Also, I wore this coat a few times years ago, when I was a small - now a small and a half, or a medium, kind of. I’ll see how I feel in it and how I think it would do for other sizes.

staciesmith307 @shauna59 ok great. I’m probably a medium in a jacket. I wear a 6 top but I do have broad shoulders. I’ll measure my shoulders across and let you know what the width is. Then we can figure out if the shoulders will work. Thanks!

shauna59 @mariasolasia Hi! Thanks for your question 🙂. I believe so. It has a thick wool outer layer + a wool blend inner layer, and the hood is generously sized to protect the face. It was purchased for old-fashioned Toronto winters, cold and snowy. I wore it a few times years ago to walk to work on freezing days, a 20 minute walk, and it was fine. Depending on size, it may have room for layering as well. It’s quite substantial, not like current featherweight coats, so keep that in mind.
