Very cool artefact from the now demolished Queen's Hotel in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
As with everything I sell, authenticity is GUARANTEED authentic. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
The Queen’s Hotel, with its red sandstone façade, was once an imposing presence at St-Jacques and Peel Sts. Built in the 1890s, it was “one of the most magnificent examples of 19th-century architecture in the city,” according to Joshua Wolfe of Heritage Montreal.
A letter to the editor by John S. Vipond of Westmount, published Nov. 2, 1988, recalled that “the Queen’s Hotel was to middle class Montreal of both cultures what the Ritz and the Windsor were to the carriage trade. It linked Windsor Station to the Grand Trunk’s old Bonaventure. Like Mother Martin’s and Drury’s up the street, its bars and restaurants were havens to servicemen in two world wars, and in peacetime it was loved as a family hotel famed for good food and friendly service.”
Measurements of the bowl are as follows:
Length: 8"
Width (at widest point): 6"
Height: 2"
Condition on the tie is 8/10. No chips or glazing, very minimal wear to paint.
