For Spring 2012, designer Tawfik Mounayer bought armfuls of carnations at a flower market, cut the stems off, and arranged them in a bowl. Then he snapped pictures of the blooms and the saved stalks lined up side by side, and digitally altered the results. These prints added interest to his simple silk twill shirtdress, shown here. With a nod to seventies sportswear, Tribune Standard strikes a balance between utilitarian design and crafted flourishes.
