Tapestry Woven Table Runner w/ Dog and Children Scene Vintage

Vintage table runner or small tapestry featuring a scene with two children playing with a ball and a pretty dog taking it all in. I don't know its origin - we got it from an antique store that was shutting down. My best guess is German or other European, maybe 1940s era. There are no tags. The piece has a couple of brown areas, but this looks like darker thread, not staining. It measures 44" x 18". I am not sure what the thread is made from but it's fairly soft.
