Tarkor Bags Vintage 1950s Black Leather Handbag

Tarkor bags was a mid 20th century maker of vintage purses and bags primarily operating out of Montreal Canada and possibly France and Spain. The company is no longer in business. Tarkor Bags was active at least through the 1940s into the 1960s, the brand was known for classic, well, constructed bags, including doctor’s bags, evening purses with distinctive metal frames and alligator or other leather bags. Features of the purse include; black leather, silver tone accents and hardware, silver tone metal frame, clasp closing at top centre, all black leather handle that is attached and nonremovable, drop handle is 6.5”, interior of bag is lined in brown leather to the one side is the foil stamp Tarkor Bag TB, on the one side of the bag is a gold tone, zipped closed pocket, just below that is an open slip pocket with gold piping in front of that open slip pocket, is an attached coin purse and to the opposite is another open slip pocket with gold piping.
