A beautiful Vintage, Pre-Hispanic Art from Taxco Mexico. A Sterling Silver Embossed Pin Brooch Pendant signed stamped with Eagle 28 which records show belongs to Bernice I Goodspeed taller. The medallion is 4.5cms or 1.75” radio and the chain is signed Italy 925 18”.
The pendant front says “Cultura Zapoteca México” and has an embossed zapoteca wearing his head piece and jewelry and some pyramids behind. The brooch has motifs and details that only a person that knows the Pre-Columbia history of Mexico can represent.
As Bernice Godspeed bio said, she arrived from USA and studied Mexican culture and arts and she opened her shop in Taxco designing mostly indigenous inspired silver jewelry. This piece was made midcentury.

About the Zapotecas:
The Zapotecas lived in the Valleys of the States of Oaxaca, Tabasco and Veracruz during the pre-columbian era as part of the mesoamerican indigenous cultures that flourished in Mexico. Just like the Mayas and Aztecas, they were very important culture during the period and left various historical sites in Mexico like Monte Alban and Juego de la Pelota Stadiums.
Preloved Vintage Used Retired Condition. The pendant is in original state with patina, if you would like it clean, please let me know, so I can polish it before sending it.
