Taxco Mexico Silver Earrings Aztec “Chimalli” Shield Abalone Onyx TC-174 Dangles Gorgeous, authentic and Vintage Taxco 925 Sterling Silver dangles with hooks featuring a “chimalli” or “shield” design, it’s dainty. The circle has sterling silver adornment with black onyx inlay as background and multicolour abalone chips or shells. Colours are black, turquoise, green, silver grey, pinks. Aztec Maya motifs and 3 dangles per earrings truly make them one of a kind. Markings: Mexico 925 TC-174 2.25 cms x 6 cms The earrings have some patina that can be cleaned upon request. Some people prefer the aged look. They’re made in Taxco and the design represents the shields that mesoamerican cultures (warriors) used on the battlefield or in ceremonies. Also they were known to be used as pieces of jewelry called pectorals. Also some gods were represented using the shields, the dangles will represent the feathers used to adorne their shields.
