Authentic Taxco Mexico “Chimalli” or Shield with Crushed Chips Green Turquoise Lapis Jade Aztec Pendant Necklace 18” Authentic Vintage Taxco 925 Sterling Silver with a “chimalli” or “shield” pendant. The pendant brooch pin necklace has a round sterling silver top with chips inlay of natural stones such as turquoise, jade, lapis and sodalite and other stones. Also has silver Aztec Maya motifs and 5 dangles. Markings: Mexico 925 TS-05 or 06 not sure last number is faded 2” x 1.5” It’s made in Taxco and this pendant represents the shields that mesoamerican cultures (warriors) used on the battlefield or in ceremonies. Also they were known to be used as pieces of jewelry called pectorals. Also some gods were represented using the shields, the dangles will represent the feathers used to adorne their shields.
