A beautiful Vintage, Pre-Hispanic Art from Taxco Mexico. A Sterling Silver Embossed Pin Brooch Pendant signed stamped with Eagle 28 which records show belongs to Bernice I Goodspeed taller. The medallion is 1.5”
The pendant brooch has God Tlaloc, God of lightning, rain and earthquakes for the Aztec Religion and the words Tlaloc and Mexico are beside him. Great embossing work. The brooch has motifs and details that only a person that knows the Pre-Columbia history of Mexico can represent.
As Bernice Godspeed bio said, she arrived from USA and studied Mexican culture and arts and she opened her shop in Taxco designing mostly indigenous inspired silver jewelry. This piece was made midcentury.

About Tlaloc
God of lightning, rain and earthquakes for the Aztec Religion and Earth’s fertility.
Tlaloc had been one of the main deities of the agricultural tribes of central Mexico for centuries, highly revered and greatly feared. He could send out the rain or provoke drought and hunger. He hurled the lightning upon the earth and unleashed the devastating hurricanes and sending down to the earth different kinds of rain, beneficent or crop-destroying.
