This is "The Compleat Angler" (sometimes The Complete Angler) first published in 1653 by Izaak Walton and Charles Cotton. This edition was published in 1951 by Oxford University Press as part of their The World's Classics series with an introduction by John Buchan.
It is a blue hardcover book with an embossed crest and geometric decoration on the covers and spine with the title etc. in gilt on the spine. It has its clipped dust jacket. This copy has many charming antique illustrations and even includes a little song with the musical notation. It is a celebration of the art and spirit of fishing in prose and verse.
This book is in excellent condition. There is a little shelf wear and bumping in evidence at the top and bottom of the spine and on the corners. The inner pages are completely clean. The dust jacket is a bit tattered but fairly intact. Please see all of the photos.
