The Dot Book - 1914

One of the more satisfying aspects of selling vintage books is the pleasure of finding a new home for a well-loved, but still intact book that deserves at least one more life, one more pass through another generation of hands. This book is one of those examples. Each 'connect the dot' illustration in this charming antique collection is accompanied by a corresponding nursery rhyme verse that informs the illustration. I LOVE the idea of a child spending a few hours studiously connecting the dots and discovering the emerging images. Yes, this book is used -- if you look really really closely, you can make out the very faint remains of lines in some of the pages. It took me quite awhile to meticulously erase the previous owner's work! One minor request -- when you give this to your child, have them use a nice soft pencil instead of a pen, so that one day you can pass this along yet again.
