This pictorial history of life in the Northeast District of Manitoba was prepared for use in primary and elementary schools. While it is particularly relevant to young Indian students living in Northeastern Manitoba, non-Native students may also benefit from a close study of the pictures which depict traditional ways of a group of Woodland Indians during the 1920’s. The fact that parents and grandparents can be identified in many of the pictures will serve to strengthen family ties while promoting a better understanding of the day-by-day activities of long ago. Hopefully, a small but important part of the culture of the Woodland Indian may thus be preserved.
