The New Canadian Arithmetics Book Two Intermediate, First Edition, J M Dent 1930

This is a rare First Edition math textbook, "The New Canadian Arithmetics - Book Two Intermediate" by P. H. Sheffield and J. E. Brown with illustrations by M. Sibyl Hardwick. It was published by J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd. in 1930. It is a green cloth bound hardcover book with red lettering and graphics on the cover and spine. It has maps of Canada inside the front and back covers and contains many diagrams, tables, and lots of line drawings. There are many practice exercises as well as word problems to make the practical application of the concepts clear. It is designed for grades 5 and 6. I personally enjoyed seeing the 1930s cost of things used in the word problems! This book is in quite good condition. The cover and spine have some smudges and wear. There is a small split in the top spine edge; the corners are bumped. Most of the pages are very clean save a fair amount of dogearing and the odd smudge. A few pages have marks in pencil and there is a name on the inside front cover in pen and name and address in pencil on endpaper. There is a spit at the hinge of the front inside cover.
