These decorative Hardcover books have light brown cloth covered boards with dark brown lettering and decoration on the cover and spine. They are "The Progressive Music Series" Books One and Two arranged by Horatio Parker, Osbourne McConathy, Edward Birge, and W. Otto Miessner. They were published by W. J. Gage & Co. in 1930 and 1935.
These two books were intended to provide music instruction for all of the elementary school years. They have a Preface and an Index and each book is divided into several sections.
This would be a treasure for any music lover!
These two books are in very good condition. There is some wear to the cover and bumped corners. The books are not quite the same shade of brown as each other, but not as different as they might seem in the photos. The pages are clean save the odd smudge or small mark. Some blue ink seems to have spilled on the top edge of the pages of Book Two. You can see it on the top edge in the last few photos. There are a few names inside the front covers of each book. The bindings are good and tight.
