This is "The Second World War Vol 4: The Hinge Of Fate" by Winston S. Churchill, published by Houghton Mifflin Company in 1950. It has red cloth covered boards with a gilt facsimile of Churchill's signature in a black field on the cover and gilt lettering in black field on the spine. The dust cover is present.
The Hinge of Fate describes how the tide of the war gradually turned for Britain and its allies from constant defeat to almost unbroken successes Japan's successful assault on the Pacific, Britain's attempts to aid a beleaguered Russia and the defeat of Rommel at the Battle of Alamein.
It is in very good condition. There is noticeable wear and staining to the cover and spine as well as bumped corners. There is some light staining along the bottom edge of the first few pages; otherwise they are unmarked. The binding is solid, though the webbing is visible along side the title page.
The dust jacket is worn, torn and missing chunks around the edges.
