This is a vintage Alberta license plate from the "Wild Rose Country" series, which was issued from 1975 to 1984. The slogan "Wild Rose Country" refers to the wild rose, which became Alberta's official provincial flower in 1930. The plate shown has the number VFF-771 and is yellow with black lettering, a design used during this period. The validation stickers on the plate show expiration dates of March 31, 1981, and March 31, 1982. These plates were made of a heavier metal than modern plates The "Wild Rose Country" slogan was first introduced on Alberta license plates in 1973. The slogan has been a subject of controversy and was briefly removed and then reinstated on newer designs
