Three Wise Monkeys Speak No Evil See No Evil Hear No Evil Japan Small Statue is said to originate from Buddhists who brought the teachings from China to Japan. Each monkey represents something that later became a part of Koshin religion.
Mizaru: Eyes covered, sees no evil.
Kikazaru: Ears covered, hears no evil.
Iwazaru: Mouth covered, speaks no evil.
It is said that the Three Wise Monkeys bring good luck to those that own a carving of them. This Three Wise Moneys small statue is vintage and some of the paint is worn (See Photos). However, it is from either the 60s or 70s, so over 50 years old. It still can provide what the proverb means and bring good fortune to you or someone you love.
