sebq Hi Jen, I’m Rj and a Registered Nurse so I am quite familiar with your illness. For those who have negative things to say just know they are ignorant or too busy to care to research it. My husband has severe CHF and is on a ❤️ transplant list with Cleveland Clinic. We just learned Last Wednesday his left side of his heart has severely deteriorated and they moved him from a 6 to a 4 on transplant. Cont....

sebq I am unable to work bcuz he needs my help 24/7. He has a PICC LINE which he will be switching to a Hickman or a Groshong in a couple of weeks bcuz he has medications that I administer his life saving meds through. When we met he was playing for the Miami Dolphins and now needs a ❤️ transplant. Life can be rough and when people tell him it could be worse I tell them until you are in his place you haven’t a clue as to what is worse.

sebq I pray everyday and night he gets a donor b4 he deteriorates any further. Besides his donor naturally needing to be a blood & tissue match he must also be about 6’ 8” to match Sam’s, my husband, heart cavity size and that isn’t an everyday occurrence so I’m so scared. I cannot lose him bcuz he is my life. If you go to my closet you will see him in my closet at the top....Cont...

sebq I, like you, am selling my things I normally wouldn’t to help pay his mounting medical bills. One person actually accused me of making it up to get sales. I thought, HOW DARE she, but then realized what a miserable person she must be. If ever you need a friend I am here for you sweetheart. We both are facing frightening futures. Thank God for your wonderful supportive husband. GOD BLESS!!!💞🙏💞🙏

foofurr @sebq Oh I’m praying for you and your family. I cannot imagine needing a transplant or the agonizing panic that goes with that. I’ve been an organ donor since I first got my license and now I cannot be a donor at all, not even bone marrow. It saddens me as I’d give a kidney or a portion of my liver right now for someone in need. I cannot believe you know about EDS!! (Con’t)

foofurr @sebq My experience with Dr’s and ER’s have been horrific. Usually ending up with telling me it’s all psychological. I was just dx last year con’t it’s been all my life people accusing me of being a hypochondriac, munchhausen, dramatic or mentally ill and making myself sick. I’ve had 40 surgeries, over 40 TIA’s and a right basil ganglia stroke. My blood pressure gets so low they cannot get a pulse or BP and I become unresponsive. (Con’t)

foofurr @sebq Oh the things I hear from medical staff when they think I cannot hear them. I’ve had to go on a ventilator several times because if you lean me back my throat closes and I cannot breathe. I’ve had Dr’s yell at me during these times telling me to stop acting or they’ll have to ventilate me. I don’t care what people think about why I’m selling things. (Con’t)

foofurr @sebq Im going to Toledo Ohio to see Dr Grubb an electrophysiology cardiologist who specializes in POTS and those with EDS on Valentine’s Day. His visit is $1100. There are very few Dr’s who know anything about it. We have to watch our hearts very carefully as we are prone to aortic dissections. I will share your closet as often as I can. I’m so very sorry you are going through so much. I will be praying for you and Sam. (Con’t)

foofurr @sebq I have a FB page Called zebralifestyle hoping to educate as many people as possible on EDS and the comorbidities thatvare associated with it. I want to be able to help others as much as I can. Thank you for reaching out my dear. You can always direct message me on the zebralifestyle FB page or my private FB page as Jennifer McLeaster-Hammer. I wish I could give you my heart so I would be out of pain and one of could live a good life. 💔

sebq
sebq Oh Sweetheart, don’t say that. I completely understand about comorbidity.. .Sam is in stage 3 renal disease and the dr and I discussed it. Bcuz his organs and actually his whole body is not able to profiuse his body with blood as it should he has so many other things going on. I’m not about to tell you I know how it must feel bcuz I don’t but you have got to not talk like that. Cont
Feb 05Reply
sebq
sebq I will d definitely friend you on FB You are blessed to have a husband supporting what you are going thru. Sam always tells me if something should happen to him he wants me to make him proud and be strong but I doubt I have that strength. I’m sure your husband feels the same way. BTW, YOU DO NOT LOOK 48, MAYBE 28 BUT NOT NEAR 48😊
Feb 05Reply
sebq
sebq Omg, a dr should NRVER suggest you are faking. Thank God I’m a nurse bcuz Sam needs a good Pt advocate. Although you are both different in dx Sam has. Dissected aorta but his was the mistake of a dr. . He got sick 9/23/17 and we went through hell for a long time b4 we got to Cleveland Clinic. I insisted on a cardiac surgical consult and he refused. One hospital overdosed him. Nightmare after nightmare
Feb 05Reply
sebq
sebq I was a good student and many drs said I should be a dr but I didn’t want more college. Plus I wanted to be free to travel with Sam if he got switched to a different team. I feel for you bcuz I know how drs can treat you and it’s so wrong
Feb 05Reply
sebq
sebq Do you have the vascular kind and do you have any idea where you inherited it from I cannot believe you have actually been told it’s in your head. Drs???? I’ve seen bad ones for sure
Feb 05Reply
sebq
sebq I know, Sam tells me all the time I go through so much and I do so much. But for me, other than of wishing he was well I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. He is my heart & soul.
Feb 05Reply
sebq
sebq I don’t think your husbands life would be better but I know he would love to see you out of pain. Same with Sam & I. I am dedicated to him and will stay by him. I read how partners leave each other when things get rough but I don’t believe they loved them in the first place Sam is handsome for sure but he’s as beautiful inside too. I adore him as I’m sure your husband does you!
Feb 05Reply
foofurr
foofurr @sebq I appreciate the compliment but this picture is quite a few years ago to be fair. It’s the only half way decent picture I’ve ever taken so I use it for everything, lol. If you friend me on FB you can see the 48 year old me pictures that aren’t as complimentary. One good thing about EDS is your face stays young looking as the rest of you falls apart. I definitely don’t look young anymore like I used to. I’ve aged quite a bit over the last few years and it’s catching up with me for sure!
Feb 05Reply
sebq
sebq Is yours vascular bcuz depending on a number of factors you may have some remission at some point. Of course I will friend you but anyone who gets sick isn’t going to look their best but I still see my gorgeous Sam as your husband sees the girl he married. Sam cannot workout and so his muscles have atrophied but I don’t see that. Your husband and I see the people we love 🙏
Feb 05Reply
foofurr
foofurr @sebq luckily I do not have vascular. I have Hypermobility type. My hubby has a bad back so he cannot work out either so he’s list 30lbs of muscle. He’s 6’4 so he thinks he looks super thin and he hates it. I’ve gained 20 and I think I look fat. We never are happy with ourselves I don’t think. He’s still sexy to me for sure but I understand not feeling good in the skin your in.
Feb 05Reply
foofurr
foofurr I had 10 surgeries in a year 1/2 each 6 weeks apart so hopefully now that I’m healed from everything I hopefully can start gently working my muscles again. I have to be super careful because my entire body subluxates. There isn’t a place on my body that doesn’t go out of joint daily including my sternum. It’s a battle. I’m supposed to be wearing my hard cervical collar back, knee and ankle braces all the time but I’m stubborn.
Feb 05Reply
sebq
sebq Omg, I’m so not happy in my skin anymore bcuz Although I’ve always been the type to not eat when I’m upset I am now. I’m 5’ 9 1/2” and weigh 128 but I like to be thin thin like I’ve always been so I feel fat. Sam is still so sexy to be and his kisses still make me weak

marciahouston51 @zebralifestyle Thanks so much for your message, regarding Sam and Rikki. I had not sent messages correctly. I just read about your situation. We never know by just looking. marciahouston51 @zebralifestyle It's shocking what Dr's say when they don't have the answer. My son went thru that with CFS. Brain fog... etc. Took several years to recover. My daughter has Fybromalgia and argues with insurance etc. to just get generic meds. My Neice is in a wheelchair with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis... Always difficult for her. These situations are no where near yours,im just someone who knows about "its all in your HEAD" comments. Pain is no joke. Sending loving thoughts for healing. Marcia

foofurr @marciahouston51 They are awful. I have 3 Dr’s I trust and use. If I need to go to the hospital I absolutely won’t go because how I’ve been treated. I’ve said it before I’d rather die at home than be treated by anyone in the ER. Many people who actually have EDS are misdiagnosed as having fibromyalgia you can also have both in conjunction with each other. So sorry you have went down that rabbit hole of “it’s all in your head” dx.
Feb 18Reply
foofurr
foofurr I suppose it is in my head and everything else in my body made up of collagen proteins. I just want to tell them off when the dismiss me or act like they are an expert on EDS when I literally sat there and watched them google it. I wish they would listen to me as I do know what I’m talking about and not be condescending 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬!
Feb 18Reply
foofurr
foofurr Invisible diseases mean you get treated as if you are invisible as well. If I were younger and in better health I’d go to med school myself to actually help people instead of making people question their own sanity. I swear there is an alarm that comes up on my chart that says hypochondriac leave her in a room and don’t check on her at all. Lol

marciahouston51 @zebralifestyle Good morning Jen.. I am curious to know if a well known Doc in Ohio could recommend anything helpful. He is very cutting edge on natural med. If you check his site, don't be put off by nutrional stuff.. Just read little more. My son is a Qualified Med Examiner for CA state in chiropractic. He thinks highly of Dr. Merkle. Maybe worth a call to see if anything to help.💕 Dr. Van Merkle in Dayton, Ohio. @MARCIAHOUSTON51

foofurr @marciahouston51 I had what I assumed was another TIA (mini stroke) on Saturday at church and finally went to the ER Monday because my entire right side of my face was drooping badly and speech started to become slurred and vomiting started so I had to go to the ER.

foofurr I have more new brain lesions so I called my neurologist but hasn’t called me back yet. I’m at home now resting but last evening I had another episode this time on my left side, and it resolved in an hour but had another one a few hours ago. My right eye is still almost closed but was starting to be able to open it a tad after the left side went numb and droopy with slurred speech again. Hopefully the dr will call me today. So sweet of you to ask.

foofurr @marciahouston51 I hope the cold calms down for your arthritis as well. Cold and heat always makes my pain worse. Midwest is not ideal for those in pain for sure. It’s either freezing or hot and humid. Let’s move to San Diego!

spottedpeaces So sorry! Sharing and prayers for you. I have half of those symptoms and they just act like nothing is wrong. Bless you!
May 18Reply
foofurr
foofurr @spottedpeaces it took me until I was 48 to be diagnosed. I know all about Drs saying it’s a psychological problem etc etc. I finally got to the right geneticist by pushing my gp for a referral. Blessings to you and praying you find answers
May 18Reply
spottedpeaces
spottedpeaces @zebralifestyle yes. Same here. I’m like I am not a hypochondriac. I am 44, soon 45. Downhill steadily since 35. I just feel like I won’t live long at this point. Fibromyalgia, depression and anxiety treated first. I watched a show on ABC about a girl with the same symptoms and she now has advanced Lyme Disease. Talked about how woman are treated versus men in medicine. Even worse for women overweight. I’m losing weight because that is not it. It is so true.
May 18Reply
foofurr
foofurr @spottedpeaces everything that I thought was anxiety and depression was due to my EDS and the inability for my body to regulate everything from hormones to temperature to heart rate and blood pressure issues. I’ve had two strokes and I at 35 started to decline rapidly as well. I sincerely hope you can find the answers in order for you to feel better.
May 18Reply

spottedpeaces @zebralifestyle me too! Thank you. 😘

spottedpeaces @zebralifestyle did you just sweat and get so hot sometimes and then be freezing? 35 surgical hysterectomy with no treatments.
May 18Reply
foofurr
foofurr @spottedpeaces Yes ma’am I’ve had nothing but problems since I started my mensus at 17. I’ve had over 18 laparoscopies ovarian sis when I had my child I lost a lot of blood. I had a continuous cycle for an entire year. I was told and 18 I would never have children but I was able to have one
May 18Reply
foofurr
foofurr I put off the hysterectomy because I wanted more children and just dealt with the pain until at 47 I couldn’t deal with it any longer. I have a total of Domino hysterectomy or they took ovaries uterus and cervix as well as bladder bowel and vaginal prolapse surgery. I’m constantly putting covers on taking covers off and that was before I didn’t have hormones.

spottedpeaces @zebralifestyle my feet pop out of joint. My right arm feel broke, heating pad and ice packs every night. So sorry!
May 18Reply
foofurr
foofurr @spottedpeaces definitely sounds like connective tissue issues then. Hypermobility EDS is what I have and joints pop out all the time. All over joint and muscle pain 24/7. Cannot get an IV on me. Low blood pressure to high blood pressure. Passing out when standing up etc. If you’d like more information you can always go to my FB page anytime zebralifestyle or Jennifer McLeaster Hammer

sebq Hi Jennifer, remember me; my husband Sam is waiting on a heart transplant. Just read your story again and wondered how you are doing🙏
Aug 13Reply

sebq Being a Registered Nurse I am familiar with ED. I apologize for the many drs who say it’s in your head bcuz they don’t know enough about it. That’s what the answer always is when they don’t know or say it’s stress. My two favs are, you don’t look sick and there are others worse off. REALLY, SO I HAVE TO BE GRATEFUL HE JUST NEEDS A NEW HEART BCUZ IT COULD BE WORSE.....GIVE ME A BREAK. God bless you!

sebq Hi Jennifer, Remember me; My husband is waiting on a ❤️ Transplant. Still waiting. November 8, his birthday, will be one year he has been on the list. Remember I probably told you he has rare blood; only makes up 16% of population has it and donor must be at least 6’ 7” to match Sam. Was reading an old message from you and wanted to reach out and see how you are doing. I hope things are going well for you. Please get back to me and let me know. Ricki🙏

sebq Sorry to appear like I’m just now seeing but you have EDS. I’m so sorry. Didn’t see that in your message but saw just now. I probably told you I’m a Registered Nurse so I know drs do not know much about it and often misdiagnose or say it’s in your head. It is a much needed fund raising disease. Forgive me if I didn’t remember or never realized. Please let me know how you are sweetheart. Ricki 🙏💞
Oct 20Reply

sebq EDS is not the disease I meant when I said drs often say it’s in your head. I was thinking of something else. I know somewhat about it but never had an EDS patient. Again, please let me know how you are. I look at your picture and my Sams and you are both such beautiful people with good hearts for sure. It breaks my heart. I’m so glad you have support Jen.🙏
