True Vintage Wool Mens / Teen bathing suit by ZIMMERKNIT Canada size S, 1930s

...dark red / purple romper playsuit An understated wool bathing suit or swimming costume, dating ca 1920-1930s in a deep red / purple colour, bearing a small label "Trade Mark ZIMMERKNIT Made in Canada". It is made from a single piece, in a fairly straight shape with semi-hidden boy shorts under a hip-length overlay. The top in a rounded scoop neckline with simple, non-adjustable shoulder straps. Originally meant as a Man or Teen bathing suit as it´s quite a small (short) size. A wonderful piece to use as a costume, warm romper, sewing pattern example or display. Condition: With some surface wear to the material, a hole on the waist, and some amateur repairs to the gusset and "skirt" in a red wool. This could possibly be fixed by someone with a good eye and a steady hand at sewing. The material still feel stretchy and fairly soft. There are a few black spots on the front bottom half and some wear under the arms. The slightly sloppy stitching to the top in white looks original to the piece. Size: small! My mannequin is roughly a US 4 and it was a bit of a squeeze.
