Hazel, who’s name is the title of this piece, was my Mon’s Mom and I painted this after she died as a meditation on family love and her love of colour coordination. She was always dressed up immaculately, with her jewelry being a perfect match to whatever combination of perfectly matched colour she chose to wear. She was always fashionable and beautiful and my goal with this painting was to capture that love of colour coordination.
