Add a touch of vintage sophistication to your smoking accessories with this unique Art Deco spring-loaded slide button split-top cigarette case. The intricately machined pattern on the shiny silvertone metal gives a timeless elegance to this piece, while its unusual mechanism adds interest.
I have never seen another cigarette case like this one. It features a spring-loaded slide button on the front and a split top design for storing cigarettes securely. The button on the front slides up, spreading the two halves of the rounded upper case top to reveal two single-file cigarette compartments. This would expose the bases of any cigarettes longer than 2.25".
The button slides halfway back down to shut the two halves of the top. It does not go down further than halfway. The button slides freely both ways, and the case top opens and shuts easily.
When the case is fully open, two thin wires (spring wires?) are exposed (last 2 pics). These wires do not get in the way as they are just outside the case hinges. They are also extremely thin and hard to see with the naked eye. I did not notice them until I started photographing the case. I do not believe they are a flaw. They appear to play a key role in spreading the two halves of the case top apart when the button is pushed up. They are soft and flexible to the touch - they won't poke your fingers.
The case has faint scratches and light wear commensurate with its age, as pictured. There is a very slight dent on the right front. It
