This allows them to keep their shape and grants some flexibility if you want to move your lapels into a desired position. Note: I removed the belt around the waist of the jacket as I never used it and the buckle would constantly jingle/hit my legs as I walked. This doesn’t affect the jacket and its not noticeable.
