V. MOP Blue Alpaca Silver Floral Bracelet

This vintage bracelet is made of alpaca silver (more info below) and has a hinge opening in the front, like a gate. The front piece/"gate" has floral details made of mother of pearl, filled in with blue swirling enamel. The bracelet has writing on the back of the "gate" but it is not stamped like the red alpaca silver bracelet I also have listed. The bracelet has normal wear including tone loss and darkening, and a slight misalignment of the clasp (pic 4). The clasp still closes, but a little effort is required. So, I initially thought this bracelet was sterling silver, but I was mistaken, it's alpaca silver. What is that? Alpaca silver, also known as "German silver" or "Nickel Silver", is an alloy containing copper, nickel, and zinc (and no actual silver). It has a silver appearance and has been around in one form or another for centuries. It is often used as a base metal for silver-plated cutlery as well as for zippers, costume jewellery, and quality keys (among other things). One popular brand of this metal is called Alpacca, but it is also just called Alpaca. Apparently using the term "silver" for alloys is a no no, even if it's in the name.
