Vera Neumann was an artist and textile designer known for her vibrant and distinctive designs, which extended to various products, including dishware like the platter shown in the image.
Artist and Designer: Vera Neumann (1907 – 1993) was an American designer who began her career in textiles, founding Printex in 1946.
Expansion to Dishware: Her artistic designs were applied to a wide range of household items, including linens, draperies, and dishware, making her a pioneer in design licensing.
"Forbidden Fruit" Pattern: The platter in the image, featuring yellow fruit and green leaves, is consistent with her "Forbidden Fruit" pattern, which was produced for Island Worcester and hand-painted in Jamaica during the 1960s.
