Charming vintage glass potpourri jar with a decorative silver tone metal lid. The lid has a cat in a basket surrounded by flowers detail. These jars were traditionally used to hold potpourri, a mixture of dried, fragrant plant materials used to scent a room. Potpourri and its containers, like this jar, gained popularity in Europe during the 17th century as a way to mask unpleasant odors and later became a fashionable decorative item in Victorian homes.
