VINTAGE Horse Brass Thermometer with Leather Single Martingale Holder Strap

Unique vintage horse brass thermometer with a dark brown leather single Martingale strap holder. The thermometer displays either C° or F°. Made in England. A horse brass is a brass plaque that was used for the decoration of horse harness gear, especially for shire and parade horses. Horse brasses became very popular in England between the mid-19th century until their decline alongside the use of the draft horse, but they have now become a collectors item and make lovely wall hanging decor and often can be found decorating pub and Inn walls. Folk-lore and myths suggest the brasses were used as amulets to ward off the “evil eye” and so they are sometime regarded as a good luck charm. Brass adds a hint of glam, warms up a space, and compliments your decor with natural earthy tones. Excellent vintage condition. Please see the photos for approximate measurements.
