VINTAGE LORD NELSON POTTERY Bundle "Good Husband" "Silent Night" Steins, 1970/72

Set of two vintage Lord Nelson brown pottery steins. Silver tone rim and handle and features humorous cartoon scenes. The verses say: "A GOOD HUSBAND IS ONE WHO WASHES UP WHEN ASKED AND DRIES UP WHEN TOLD." and "SILENT NIGHT" "WHAT'S YOURS?" The bottom of the steins are backstamped Lord Nelson Pottery England 7-72, indicating July 1972 and 7-70 indicating July 1970. The steins measure approximately: Height: 5 inches Base: 4.25 inches Top opening: 3.25 inches Width with handle: 5 inches Very good vintage condition, no cracks or chips. There is some crazing to the "Good Husband" stein and there is a mark beside the small laundry cartoon. This mark is under the glaze (see last photo). The "Silent Night" stein has no chips, cracks or crazing but some wear to the silver detail and a very small mark under the glaze by the drinks image (see photos). Lord Nelson Pottery is an English pottery firm that produced domestic pottery for decades and sold it all over the world. Started by a gentleman, Elijah Cotton, who was reported to have a strong personality and who became one of the major manufacturers in the pottery industry via his own efforts and the driving force of his strong personality.
