This charming little dish features designs in gilding on a creamy porcelain background. It was designed to hold small pieces of lemon to be passed around with the tea service. The little loop handle made it easy to pick up without getting your fingers in the juice from the lemon slices. Of course, the dish is also perfect for passing around all sorts of other tasty bits that go with afternoon tea!
It is approximately 6 inches across, and is in good condition, without cracks, chips, scratches or other damage or defect, except for some wear to the gilding due to use, especially on the handle and on the edge - as might be expected given its age. The Noritake ‘M & Wreath’ mark (as shown) indicates that the piece was imported through Morimura Bros. of New York City, the licensed Noritake agent for North America between the two World Wars. This dates the plate from the 1920’s through the 1930’s.
Still very pretty - and very modestly proced!
