Collectible Vintage Japanese Satsuma Style Censer (Incense Burner) - FOREIGN Mark
This intricate and colorful miniature lidded censer (Koro) is a charming piece of vintage Japanese Porcelain, made in the style of renowned Satsuma ware. The quality and detail make it an excellent cabinet piece or decorative accent.
Key Features:
Form: Traditional censer/incense burner shape with a removable Pierced Lid for incense smoke.
Decoration: Lavishly hand-painted with vibrant Polychrome Enamels (greens, reds, blues) and extensive Gold Gilt accents in a Moriage (raised dot) style, featuring large floral motifs.
Figural Details: The handles are stylized Peacock heads, and the body rests on three Tripod Feet.
Mark: Stamped "FOREIGN" on the base, a historical mark indicating export quality porcelain from occupied Japan (Post-WWII era, 1945–1952).
Condition Notes (IMPORTANT):
This piece is being sold AS IS due to damage.
Lid Repair: The included image clearly shows a significant crack and repair to the porcelain lid. This damage is reflected in the suggested price. The censer body itself appears to be in good condition.
Despite the damage to the lid, this piece remains a highly collectible example of Japanese Export Porcelain and the Satsuma Style. It is perfect for display in a curio cabinet or as a unique gift for a collector of Asian Antiques and Censers.
