This Victorian bar brooch is made of 15K gold and has a beautiful, fully functional example of an early locking clasp (typical of late Victorian pieces, is stamped 15K). The pin is also stamped W near the middle, but I don't know who that would refer to. The brooch features intricate openwork and beautiful filigree-like scrollwork, also popular in this era. The very center of the brooch features a single diamond (confirmed by testing), though I don't know how many carats it is (possibly 0.05-0.1 carats, it's small). The craftsmanship is incredible and is as beautiful as it is durable.
This piece is valuable for its gold content, but even more valuable for its antique nature. 15K gold fell out of production in 1931, replaced by 14K, making 15K harder to find. The early locking clasp is also valuable and difficult to find. Overall, the brooch has many aspects that should appeal to a collector or enthusiast. There is some tone change but at 90-100+ years old, it is in great condition.
