A beauty of a Victorian mourning brooch, glazed back for hair more often than a photograph.
The hook at the bottom can hold an extra trinket or bauble of the era, and the little loop at the top is for adding a safety chain pin. (Those are usually not still on these old pieces)
The brooch is in very good but not perfect condition: the middle frame of the front has a small creased area and a separation as shown in the photos. That is the only condition issue though.
Not too bad considering this is approaching 150 years.
1 &3/4” by 1 &1/2”
10.6 grams
The enamel star is cobalt blue, in perfect condition, surrounding the half or “split” pearl.
