Call it a hot take, but the New York Mets' black hats and jerseys were among the team's most stylish of all.
1998 saw the introduction of black to the ball club's duds after 36 years of wearing royal blue, though technically, the cap up top appeared a year later. No one rocked the look better than the Met’s newly acquired, all-star catcher, Mike Piazza. In '98, Piazza notched a cool 32 home runs and 111 RBI, confirming the Mets chose right.
A vintage piece, this cap’s around 25-years-young, though its impeccable condition belies its age.
As for Piazza (who'd go on to be a Hall of Famer), the now MLB legend helped the Mets make the playoffs in '99 after a torpid 10-year drought, the likes of which was followed by a World Series appearance in 2000 against their bitter rivals, the New York Yankees, a battle known today as the "Subway Series."
