Post-War 1940's saw the rise in popularity of the snarling tiger motif, riffing on Sukajan Japanese souvenir jackets.
Here it is seen embroidered on a fabulous black nylon umbrella with painted wooden handle.
Interior pole is bamboo with black enamel painted hardware.
Another detail of interest is to the snap-dome closure which has been decorated with an atomic symbol.
Length (tip to handle) 34 1/2"
Diameter (open) 46"
Great overall appearance with normal signs of wear for its age.
Slight cracking, (but still smooth), to the paint on wooden handle. Tip has lots its paint from use. The raw cut edge of the nylon has started to fray along the edge of the umbrella, but could easily be trimmed down.
No rips, tears, colour-fading to the umbrella itself. Still functions as an umbrella - or makes a fantastic prop piece!
