Vintage 1950s A-1 Japan “Mr. Traffic Policeman” Battery-Operated Tin Toy Working

Rare mid-century Japanese battery-operated tin toy by A-1 Toys. Known as “Mr. Traffic Policeman,” this animated and articulated figure stands about 14″ tall. The base, shoes and traffic-light pole are tin, while the head and hands are plastic; his blue felt uniform and white hat are original. When powered by D-cell batteries (not included), the traffic light changes colours and the policeman raises and lowers his arms to direct traffic — there’s even a whistle effect, I don’t believe that the whistle effect is working though. Condition: Pre-owned vintage condition with a lot of patina (some might call it dust) on the uniform consistent with age, an appraiser told Me not to clean it as some collectors prefer that, if You would like Me to clean it, I will. Lithographed base (“Policeman,” “Safety First” and city scene) shows minor scuffs; uniform is intact. Whistle, hat, baton and belt present, appears complete. No box.
