Vintage 1970s Viners Stainless Steel 'Shape' Pattern Soup Spoons Set of 6 Size 7" long, weight 9 oz all This vintage set of six soup spoons is marked, 'Viners International Stainless Steel Empire on the back of the spoons shafts, and SHAPE on the back of the handle. Viners 'Shape' is forged from 18/8 stainless steel. The cutlery has a very distinctive retro handle, with the pattern picked out in black. The handles have a satin finish, front and back, while the bowls are mirror polished. This range of cutlery is typically stamped EMPIRE. 'Shape' was designed by Gerald Benney. A fine Goldsmith, Benney was born in Hull in 1930 and went on to study at Brighton College of Art between 1946-8 where his father was Principal. After studying at the Royal College of Art between 1950-53.
