This stunning red, white and blue design is from Malia of Hawaii in cotton barkcloth - both contemporary and sophisticated at the same time.
Malia was a label created by Bill and Mary Foster. Bill designed the textiles and Mary designed the dresses. Their designs were sewn in Hawaii — more expensive to produce but of much higher quality than anywhere else.
Rather than re-style palm frond print textile designs that had originated in the 1930’s, Malia explored bright, modern graphics and print. The company was in business from the late 1960’s to the late 1980’s.
This beautiful dress is in excellent condition. It features a front mock bodice wrap with three cloth covered buttons and a lovely tie belt to highlight the waist.
Bright hydragenia red flowers with contrasting dark navy leaves on a white background. Eye- catching and classic at the same time.
Size 8 on the sizing tag fits my dress mannequin perfectly Bust 36 waist 25 and hips 36.
