Vintage 8-Strand Natural Coral Pendant Necklace

This vintage necklace has 8 beaded strands and a toggle clasp made of a silver tone metal. All 8 strands are strung with small red-orange beads that have a smooth, polished finish, and feel cool to the touch. What really makes this piece special, however, is the large natural coral pendant. (See photo 4 for a close up, it might help to look at as you read along!) The pendant also feels cool to the touch and shows natural pits, striations, and internal colour variation. Though it is polished, it retains a beautiful sponge-like or wormy texture, typical of natural oxblood coral. It does not fluoresce under UV light, makes a high pitched "tik tik" sound when tapped, and showed no colour bleeding in hot water (neither did the smaller beads). The colour continues into the pendant's interior where visible, which is another sign of natural, undyed material. The necklace was purchased from a German woman who had bought all her jewellery in Germany, so it's likely this piece was sourced there as well. Overall, it's in very good vintage condition with no missing beads, and no cracks, chips, or damage to the pendant.
