Vintage AMBER AND TOPAZ RHINESTONE BROOCH Gold Tone Braided Pot Metal Pre 1950's

This lovely old brooch is proof that good design is timeless and looks good after well-over 70 years. There are multiple shapes and sizes of rhinestones in 3 shades of amber/topaz colors, arranged asymmetrically in an domed circle. The stones are all faceted and prong held, very sparkly, and the larger ones are open at the bottom with gold-colored covering. The rhinestones are arranged like a work of abstract art, over a background of "open air" swirling and interwoven strands of fine gold tone braiding. The brooch measures 2 - 1/8 inch diameter, and it arches to about 5/8 inch high in the center. It is unbranded but the details and craftsmanship suggest it was likely the work of one of the better known costume jewelers of the time. The long rollover closure pin extends beyond the edge of the piece, which is apparently further indication that this piece was made in the earlier half of the century. This brooch is in excellent condition with no signs of wear, missing stones, or any kind of damage - amazing for its age!
