Vintage Anne Geddes “Varjanare as an angel” Photo Plaque

A bit of history behind this photo : Varjanare was 4 weeks old. At the time Anne photographed her she was planning a calendar with an angel theme and she was perfect for it. Her very light wings, made of foam and plaster, are attached to a small and flexible piece of wire at the back of the pillar. Once she was asleep, the wings had to be carefully lowered onto her back without waking her. Anne always strive to keep things as simple as possible and when she looked at this image it reminded her not just of the perfect beauty of a newborn baby, but our collective responsibility to protect and nurture babies like her in order for them to reach their full potential.
