These dinnerware plates are part of the "Ballerina" line introduced by Universal Pottery in the early 1950s.
Design: The plate back stamp features a central image of a ballerina figure and is marked "UNIVERSAL OVEN-PROOF" and "UNION MADE IN U.S.A.".
Material and Glaze: Made of high-quality ceramic and are known for their fade-proof designs due to a special Permacel glazing technique m.
Usage: The Ballerina line included various pieces like dinner plates, luncheon plates, serving platters (also known as chop plates), cake plates, and other accessory pieces, often used for serving or display.
Origin: Universal Pottery was located in Cambridge, Ohio, and produced this line from approximately 1934 to 1954.
Good Vintage Condition. Some scratches from use. On the bottom, there are what appears to be kiln marks. Some dark spots. The plates are a beautiful 50's green. It was difficult to capture the colour. The first pictures capture
Good Vintage Condition. There are scratches on the front from use. The glazed edges feel a bit rough in places. There are imperfections on the bottom of all the plates; I believe are the result of the kiln production. There is a small nip on the rim of the small plate. The colour and imperfections are hard to capture in photography. Please ask any questions.
