What a beautiful piece of vintage ceramics from Gray’s Pottery made in Stroke on Trent England. Depicting an action scene of a fox hunt with three men on horses and a pack of dogs on the chase, this wonderful condition candy/trinket box is a great addition for any collector!
About Gray’s Pottery:
Even though the company was relatively small when compared with the mainstream pottery companies in North Staffordshire (it employed less than 100 people at its height in the 1930s), Gray’s Pottery punched well above its weight! Its 1930s’ slogan ‘The Pottery of Distinction’ was well-chosen and many of the firm’s designs were to be found at important national and international exhibitions as well as being included in influential design registers.
In wonderful condition, the glaze features a lustrous, shining patina hand painted. Bottom markings have an embossed Candy Dish and makers mark and “A8834” as the indicator.
Condition notes: There is usual fine natural crazing due to the age of the piece, which doesn't detract from the beautiful display value of this unusual piece with detailed subject matter.
