hi! I contacted numerous luxury bag spas/repairs and they all told me they won't replace the snap closure without also replacing the original CC, but Id like to keep it the same BC it's vintage. do you know if chanel can fix it and keep it the same?

@ells117 Hi dear! Thanks for leaving a comment. It’s really kind of frustrating that they cannot fix the closure without changing CC, because I thought they could. But good news here is that the CC is not broken at all, it’s perfectly fine as in the pictures! If you look closely it’s actually the round pallete that the CC button is supposed to click into that’s broken. It has shifted, so there’s no space for the CC button to click right into. I think only that is what needs to be replaced!

@ells117 And to answer your question here’s what I found online: “Chanel is absolutely still repairing bags over 5 years old. Repairs are still performed by their Fashion After Sales department, regardless of the bag’s age.
The change to our policy is on two paid services only.”

@gagalady11 yes, I thought it would be an easy fix too, but they told me they'd have to change the hardware to match locking mechanism when I asked to leave the original CC untouched. I've sent an inquiry to chanel too, hopefully they have good news, BC I'm definitely interested if I can keep the original vintage CC 🤍

@ells117 hi dear!! I just realized the button closure is not broken after all. PLEASE SEE NEW VIDEO! It’s just that sometimes the parts within the button shift out of place, blocking the CC button to click into it. If you use a key/ a small pin to rearrange it back into place, the button works just fine.

@overacupoftea hi there. It is due to wear throughout the years(this bag is about 20 years old!) and it’s very common for such a vintage bag to miss its tag, especially because they weren’t so securely attached to bags back then.

@gagalady11 hi, does it shift easily? like whenver the bag is moved around? I'm concerned it may shift to a point I won't be able to fix it myself or gets worse, as Chanel has told me that they've stopped making that part & will definitly have to replace the vintage cc gold lock

@ells117 Hi there! We managed to fix it back into place and it does not shift around anymore. I went to a bag repairer and he applied a tiny tidbit of super glue to hold the 3 shifting pieces within the button, so they stay there, they don’t block anything and they allow the metal lock to click into the hole perfectly.

@ells117 Here is more details in case you are still concerned 😊: if you look at my pictures, you’ll see that the problem is the closure was blocked by 3 pieces of very thin metals. Those pieces were a thin layer of hollow ring, between 2 other thicker layers of metal rings that form the “outside” of the gold button. The lock would click into the hole, before the middle thin layer broke and blocked that hole.
Now we have glued the thin middle ring back into shape, it is working perfectly! 🥰
