Here we have a lovely pottery ewer from the 1960s, in beautiful celadon greens and caramel brown, with bits of sky blue and other colors. The profile of this vase is stand-out, as is the glaze, both matte with hints of gloss among some of the accents. Imagery on the both sides is reminiscent of the Roman era. The vase is coated with glossy glaze inside and thus will hold water yet is truly beautiful as a decorative element in and of itself. Cucchi is known for producing a special vermouth, which this pitcher may have been used to serve.
The base measures 3-3/4' by 2-3/4", and the vase body is about 10-3/8" tall with a small, less than 1" in diameter mouth opening. The vase carries the CUCCHI Made Italy hallmark. No chips although it does have many imperfections in the original painting and glazing that let us know it is wholly handmade.
A lovely vase for the Old World home.
