Vintage Genuine Mosaic Opal set in 14K Gold Pendant

Vinage Mosaic Opal pendant set with 14k gold. Stamped 585 = solid14k gold, not plated. The setting uses a black onyx base to enhance and showcase the opal colours. Pendant measures approx 1.6 cm without bail, 2.4 cm with the bail. See pics for more accurate measurements. I purchased this brand new mosaic opal pendant when travelling to Hong Kong in the 1980s. This was made by a jewelry store using high quality imported Australian opal. Mosaic Opals are composed of hundreds of very small, thin slices of high-quality opal, painstakingly set together in intricate mosaic designs. The workmanship by Hong Kong jewellers at that time was superb. Since then Hong Kong has grown to be a top financial hub and the craftsmen have since retired. So no more of these painstaking crafts. I stored it safely after returning home to Canada and never wore it. Colour may differ depending on different lighting and different monitor settings.
