Vintage Hakata-ori Obi

BNIP Artisan made obi passed down several generations. Never used. Doesn’t fit into my current collection. Obi Authentic Chikuzen Hakataori Obi Made by Kazuya Ono: Gold Seal 100% silk Hakataori is a traditional Japanese textile that has been produced in Fukuoka Prefecture for more than 770 years. Due to its manufacturing method, Hakata-ori is "supple yet strong", and is therefore one of the most highly acclaimed in Japan, especially when used for kimono "obi" (sashes). To hand-weave one obi, more than 10,000 threads, each less than 1mm wide, are used, and the process usually takes several months, and in some cases as long as half a year. Each step in the production process is divided into different tasks, and each step requires extremely precise and delicate handwork.
