Vintage Hand-carved Wooden Figure 10" Polychrome Naturalistic Tribal Nude Statue

Hand carved lightweight polychrome wooden figurine Measures 10 inches tall, 3 ½ inches wide and 5 inches deep. Statues / dolls like this were used in ancient South American or African tribal cultural rituals. Perhaps a fertility figure or praying idol. The figure is kneeling with the hands placed over the belly with a v-shaped neck ornament. Also notable is the face with wide open eyes, slender eyebrows, a protruding nose and pursed lips. This is a unique, one of a kind piece of art that would look great displayed on a bookshelf or mantle. No provenance available, however was purchased at antique store in Ontario, Canada. In very good condition with slight scuffs and surface wear.
